Sunny Weekend in LA

Hi everyone! I hope you had a great St. Patrick’s day weekend. Kevin and I were in LA Thursday through Saturday, and had a much needed couple of days away.

We stayed at the Beverly Hills Hotel in Beverly Hills and enjoyed our stay. Kevin was in town for a work event, and I flew out on Thursday to meet him. We enjoyed our favorite restaurant  in town, Il Pastaio, for yummy italian dinner on Thursday night and did some walking around town afterward. Unfortunately no celebrity sightings!
On Friday we enjoyed a morning work down rodeo drive taking in all of the amazing houses in the area. We later enjoyed lunch at The Farm of Beverly Hills and did some window shopping on rodeo drive. We found out Kenney, Kevin’s brother was also in town so we met up with him and his friend for dinner before joining some other MSU friends for the basketball game. It was great to see everyone and watch a good win for the Spartans!

Have a great week!

Back Home

We are home! We landed in Phoenix Saturday night after almost 24 hours of travel. Our trip was amazing, full of adventure and some much needed relaxation! Every country was so unique, we enjoyed Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam so much. It feels good to be home. It cooled off in Scottsdale while we were gone and it finally feels like fall. Now it is time for Christmas shopping and enjoying the holiday spirit! Back to reality…

Hello from Southeast Asia!

Hi all! I hope you had a great weekend. For those of you who do not know Kevin and I left for Southeast Asia on Wednesday! We are visiting Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam and we couldn’t be more excited for another adventure together. We started our trip in Chiang Mai, the northern part of Thailand after a long 20+ hours of travel. While we are here we are visiting an elephant camp, taking a cooking course to learn how to cook some local dishes, and enjoying the amazing scenery while we adjust to the time change.

We then travel to Ko Samui, an island in southern Thailand for four days of relaxation! Here Kevin has some “surprises” he planned, and I cannot wait to find out what he has in store.

Next we travel to Bangkok for a couple of days in the city before we make our way to Siem Reap Cambodia to visit Ankor Wat and all of the surrounding temples. We have a tour planned to make the most of our time there and on the second day we get picked up at 4:30am to watch the sunrise over the beautiful temples.

The last leg of our trip will be spend in Hanoi Vietnam, where we travel to Ha Long Bay to enjoy a night on a boat (or junk as they call it) viewing the gorgeous water and surrounding scenery. If you are not familiar with Ha Long Bay, Google search it and you will see why  I am excited!

I will post some pictures on Facebook as we travel if you are intersted in following our journey. Have a good week!

Things Making Me Smile This Week

Hello everyone! To brighten up this Monday, I thought I would share some of the things that have made me smile in the past week. Feel free to comment below and let me know some things that are making you happy! 🙂

  • Finishing Up a Good Book-  Yes, it took me WAY too long to read this tiny book. I have been busy starting my new job and usually only read a few pages or a chapter before going to bed some nights. However, I can say that I LOVED this book. It is full of simple tips on how to increase your happiness on a daily basis. I definitely recommend it!

  •  Having a Workout Partner- After joining Lifetime Fitness in January, my mom and I have been working out together a lot more and I couldn’t be happier! It is so much more fun and motivating to workout with someone else. We have been enjoying our fair share of yoga classes lately. Also, I am so proud of my mom for sticking with her fitness goals this year so far, keep it up mom!

  • Spending Time With This Guy- While Nick and I are only an hour apart when he is at school, we don’t see each other during the week and it had been a couple weeks since we spent time together. I was one happy girl when he came home Friday for the weekend. We enjoyed dinner at a new brewery on Friday night with my parents and spent time with his family on Saturday.
  • New Beauty Products- I made a trip to Ulta on Friday and scored some amazing new beauty products, woo hoo! I have been searching for a good dry shampoo as I admittedly have greasy hair (especially if it’s been over 24 hours since I washed it). This Living Proof dry shampoo is the answer to my hair prayers. I used it this weekend and went over 48 hours without washing my hair! Also, I received a mascara sample with my purchase (brand:it- SUPERHERO) and love that as well. It lengthens my lashes and lasts all day!

  • Vacation Count-Down- I am so excited for our family vacation to Arizona in just 26 days to visit my sister and brother-in-law! Nothing like some relaxing time with my family in warm, sunny weather no less! Hurry up March 25th!
  • New Spring Clothes- With a vacation in my near future and Spring around the corner (hopefully), I have been keeping my eyes open for some cute new clothes. When I was at Target the other day with my mom, I found some patterned, trendy clothes including a dress, kimono, and wider-leg pants (sometimes I am in awe of Target’s clothing section) all for under $25 each. I am ready for some heat! FYI the beach hat pictured below was found in the dollar section for $5!
  •  Fuller House Release- I was super pumped when I found out that the Full House cast was having a reunion and have been waiting for the end of February when it was set to be released and it is finally here! I am only two episodes in, but certainly feel nostalgic watching it. My sister and I used to watch reruns after school nearly every day and as soon as the episode was over my dad would get home from work. Brings back so many memories and I love the references to the original episodes.Fuller House
  • Adorable Music Videos- I am a total country music lover especially modern country (cue Today’s Country’s Hits Pandora). When I heard “Die a Happy Man” by Thomas Rhett my heart melted. It is such a sweet song and he wrote it for his wife! As soon as I found out the music video was of him and his wife, I knew I needed to watch it ASAP. It was more adorable then I imagined it would be. So I will leave with you with that, feel free to replay as many times as you please (bye bye Monday blues!). die a happy man.jpg

Have an amazing week!!!

Weekend Trip to NYC

This weekend I traveled to New York City to visit Kevin and my in-laws made the trip as well! Kevin’s in NYC for six weeks for training for work, so it was great to see him and have everyone together for the weekend.

I flew in late Thursday night, and I spent Friday afternoon with my in-laws. We met for lunch at a delicious organic restaurant called Ellary’s Greens. We then made our way to Battery Park and boarded a ferry to Liberty Island to see the Statute of Liberty.

It was my first time seeing the Statue of Liberty. It was such a beautiful day to be outside and sightsee!

We got an up close view and then spotted some delicious ice cream cones we couldn’t pass up, yum! After walking around the island we boarded the next ferry to Ellis Island and walked through the museum there before heading back to Manhattan.

On Friday night Kevin and I had dinner at a restaurant called Hundred Acres with my mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and his girlfriend. We were celebrating my mother-in-law, Leslie’s, birthday so after dinner we went to my brother-in-laws apartment for some cupcakes, and then went to a late night comedy show. We didn’t get to bed until 3am. It really is the city that doesn’t sleep!

On Saturday we started the day with brunch at a local diner and then watched the Michigan State football game at a MSU bar. Later in the day, Kevin and I took a stroll down 5th Avenue, and we stopped in Time Square. At night, the crew met back up and we took a boat cruise around Manhattan before heading to a late dinner. Kevin’s parents left town after dinner, so we said goodbye and called it a night.

On Sunday, Kevin and I went to brunch at Sarabeth’s and did some shopping in the meatpacking district before I had to head to the airport. The weekend went by so fast, but it was a great trip and I’m excited to see Kevin again in a couple of weeks!

Road Trip to La Jolla

Happy Labor Day! I hope you’re enjoying the long weekend. Kevin and I went on a road trip to La Jolla California (right outside of San Diego), and stayed at Torrey Pines resort. togetheratheart_lajolla

It’s nice to escape the heat for more temperate weather, and you can’t beat a view of the Pacific Ocean over a beautiful golf course. On Friday we skipped town early and made the drive to our resort. We made it just in time to watch the Michigan State football game. It’s always a good time cheering on our Spartans to victory! After the game, we went into town and had a great Italian dinner and enjoyed a bottle of wine at Piatti.

Saturday morning we started the day with a delicious breakfast on the patio overlooking the pool and golf course. I had the famous lemon ricotta pancakes with raspberry syrup, and man were they good!

After breakfast we did some hiking through the Torrey Pines nature reserve and took a path down to the beach to enjoy the water. The views couldn’t be more different than what we are used to in Arizona!

The rest of the day we were poolside before heading into Del Mar for an oceanside dinner at Jake’s. Nothing is more relaxing than watching the sunset and reflecting on life.

togetheratheart_lajolla

On Sunday we spent the day at the Del Mar race track. We had a great time betting on horses and even won some money!

Today we are going to the world famous San Diego zoo before heading home. It was such a fun trip and we made some great memories!
