Everything Happens for a Reason

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I am currently sitting in my new living room with a cup of coffee (of course) looking through the window at the streets of Royal Oak! My boyfriend, Nick, and I moved to Royal Oak on Saturday! We have been interested in moving here for a while now as it is closer to the hospital I work at, has a great downtown, and a lot of younger people live in the area.

About a week ago, we were planning on moving into an 800 square foot apartment. We had seen the model apartment a couple months ago and loved it. However, we were very disappointed with the condition of our specific unit. The floors were old-school parkay wood in poor condition and the closests were broken. The complex was not willing to help fix our unit and we were luckily able to get out of the lease.

It just so happens that I spoke with my former Pom coach about the area after the apartment fell through  and she told me the lower unit of the house she lived in was vacant and for rent. Nick and I fell in love with the unit immediately as it feels more like a home than an apartment. It has hardwood floors throughout, a cozy fireplace, two bedrooms, and even a breezeway area. We totally lucked out and were able to sign the lease and move in the day we originally had planned to move into the other apartment.

We are getting acquainted in our home after a busy weekend of moving. Our family and friends dedicated their Saturday to us and worked hard all day organizing and decorating our place. We are blessed with such great family and friends and greatly appreciate their help! After a rough week of disappointment and reorganizing, we are so happy with how everything turned out. This was definitely an example of “everything happens for a reason.”

I will share more pictures of the house soon. We are excited to explore the area and continue making this our home! Have a great week everyone!
